Biography

Clay Deatherage is a partner in Shutts & Bowen's Orlando office, where he is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group.  Mr. Deatherage concentrates his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation and financial services litigation.  Mr. Deatherage has represented national investment banks, regional development companies and local businesses, where he handled several cases valued in excess of $5 million.

In addition, Mr. Deatherage served as General Counsel for U.S. Senator Mel Martinez from 2005 to 2008.  Mr. Deatherage negotiated and provided legal counsel in key areas of federal legislation, including constitutional law, military tribunals, immigration reform, intellectual property and Medicare reform as well as federal judicial nominations.
