
James P. Terpening, III
James P. Terpening is an attorney in Shutts & Bowen’s Miami office, where he practices commercial, construction, and insurance litigation, with a focus on construction matters. Since the beginning of his legal career, Mr. Terpening has pursued his interest in representing clients in the construction industry. Specifically, Mr. Terpening represents owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and lenders in disputes involving construction defects, delay claims, construction liens, insurance coverage, bond issues, and construction loans.
While attending law school at Emory University, Mr. Terpening was the Executive Notes and Comments Editor of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal. At the University of Florida, where he received a B.S. in Building Construction, Mr. Terpening interned with various construction companies, served as President of the Sigma Lambda Chi National Building Construction Honor Society, and was the Project Manager of the University of Florida Design-Build Team.
