Biography

Luis de Armas is Chairman of the Corporate Transactions Practice Group in Miami and has been a partner at Shutts & Bowen since 1983. He serves on the firm’s Management and Compensation Committees.  He was born in Havana, Cuba, and has lived in South Florida since 1960.

Experience

With more than 30 years in practice, Mr. de Armas represent clients in banking, corporate and securities law, as well as real estate finance and transactions. He has a strong reputation for structuring and negotiating complex mergers and acquisitions, including acquisitions of financial institutions, leveraged transactions and international transactions. He has also been involved in a wide range of securities offerings and transactions.  Many foreign institutions rely on him to represent their investments and operations in the United States.

Based on his range of experience, Mr. de Armas has published several articles and lectured on international banking, foreign investment in the United States, real estate syndication and securities offerings.
