James P. Terpening is a recent graduate of Emory University, where he was the Executive Notes and Comments Editor of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal.
Although his legal career is just beginning, his emphasis on the construction industry began during undergraduate school, where he received a B.S. in Building Construction. His honors thesis was: Construction Liability Case Study: Alachua County Correctional Facility and he delivered the commencement ceremony student speech for the 2005 University of Florida College of Design, Construction & Planning. Additionally, Mr. Terpening was the President of the Sigma Lambda Chi National Building Construction Honor Society and a Project Manager for the University of Florida Design-Build Team.
He was a preconstruction intern at both an international construction company and a regional civil engineering firm, and an intern project engineer at a national commercial construction company. He also interned at an environmental organization where he researched issues pertaining to recent commercial and residential construction projects and co-edited and researched Building Better: A Guide to America’s Best New Developments, which was distributed to local municipalities and press outlets in the United States.
