Douglas G. Brehm is a partner who practices with the Employment Law Practice Group in Shutts & Bowen’s Miami office. Mr. Brehm devotes his practice primarily to the representation of management in all areas of labor and employment law. More specifically, Mr. Brehm has successfully defended claims involving age discrimination, disability discrimination, gender discrimination and sexual harassment, as well as retaliation and whistle blower claims. He has also litigated numerous claims involving trade secrets and covenants not to compete. He also counsels corporations regarding compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Mr. Brehm regularly conducts in-house training programs on topics such as sexual harassment prevention, hiring and firing, and how to manage problem employees.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Brehm practiced labor and employment law with a national law firm, where he handled, among other labor and employment matters, several collective action lawsuits under the Fair Labor Standards Act. While practicing in Tennessee, he also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Tennessee Law School, where he taught Pre-Trial Procedure.
