Alfred A. LaSorte

Experience

Mr. LaSorte provides counsel to lenders, businesses, property owners and title insurers throughout the state on real estate, foreclosure and title insurance matters.  He represents clients in large, complex commercial foreclosure actions, title encumbrances and legal disputes both in and out of court. He is one of few Florida lawyers with a focus on title insurance issues.

Professional Activities

Mr. LaSorte regularly participates in seminars and lectures before various groups across Florida.  For the past seven years, he has presented the mortgage foreclosure seminar at the Florida Bar Real Estate Certification Review Course.  In addition, he frequently speaks at seminars across the state on advanced topics concerning real estate litigation, including the Attorneys Title Fund Assembly in Orlando and the University of Miami's Annual Ralph E. Boyer Institute on Real Property Law.  Mr. LaSorte is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and the Florida Land Title Association. He is also a member and former chair of both the Florida Bar Business Litigation Certification Committee, and the 15th Judicial Circuit Professionalism Council.

In addition to his inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, Florida Trend's Florida Legal Elite and Florida Super Lawyers, Mr. LaSorte is scheduled to be inducted in October, 2010 as a Fellow in Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society, limited to less than one-half of 1% of American lawyers. Fellows are selected and invited into Fellowship after being evaluated on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and trial work, along with ethical reputation.

Community Involvement

Mr. LaSorte holds leadership positions with various community organizations.  He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the West Palm Beach Public Library, which supports the new 83,000 s.f. public library in downtown West Palm Beach.  An avid amateur astronomer, Mr. LaSorte's recent library lecture on "Galileo" was so well received that he has been asked to reprise it, this time in the library's largest auditorium. 
 
Last year, Mr. LaSorte founded, and he continues to chair, the American Heart Association's annual Palm Beach County "Lawyers Have Heart" 5K Run which takes place each fall along the West Palm Beach waterfront.  He also sits on the Executive Board for the American Heart Association's annual Start! Heart Walk, in which more than 10,000 walkers participate each year.
