Scott Newsom is a partner in Shutts & Bowen’s Orlando office, where he is a member of the Real Estate Department and concentrates his practice in the area of community association law, providing comprehensive legal services to condominium, homeowner, cooperative and timeshare associations.
Background
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Newsom was an Assistant State Attorney, where he was responsible for all facets of the prosecution and trial of felony-level criminal cases and also conducted seminars and training sessions for law enforcement, businesses and the general public.
While at the University of Florida, as an undergraduate, he was a member of the Speech and Debate Team and Omicron Delta Kappa. In graduate school, he was an Assistant Coach of the Speech and Debate Team, was a Graduate Teaching Assistant, and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. In law school, Mr. Newsom was a member of the Trial Team, a Vice-Chancellor and Staff Prosecutor on the Student Honor Court and a Public Speaking Instructor for the Center for Written and Oral Communication. He was also a member of the prestigious Florida Blue Key and was named to the Outstanding Young Men of America.
Mr. Newsom clerked for the Office of the City Attorney for Sanibel, Florida, and interned for the Office of the State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit. He is an Adjunct Instructor at Seminole Community College where he teaches Public Speaking.
