Biography

Lauren Sobel is an attorney in Shutts & Bowen's Miami Business Litigation Practice Group, representing clients in complex commercial litigation matters.  Ms. Sobel’s practice centers on federal litigation.  She routinely defends cases for a national insurance company in federal court, and litigates cases which involve novel areas of trademark and copyright law.  Ms. Sobel is also experienced in handling disputes in state court, in areas of law such as real estate, creditors’ rights, and trust and estates.  For example, Ms. Sobel has helped to resolve lease disputes for a world-renowned boutique hotel company, has worked on pre-litigation investigation and analysis with respect to a billion dollar real estate development project, and has handled multi-million dollar commercial foreclosures on behalf of national banking institutions and special servicers.

After graduation from Fordham University School of Law, Ms. Sobel worked as an associate in the business litigation department in the New York office of a large, national law firm.  Prior to joining Shutts & Bowen, Ms. Sobel was a law clerk for the Honorable Joan A. Lenard, U.S. District Judge in the Southern District of Florida, as well as a law clerk for the Honorable Debra C. Freeman, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York.
