Jeannette Albo practices in the firm’s Miami Labor & Employment Practice Group, and has concentrated her practice in that area since 1995. She is also a member of the Litigation Department and often defends and prosecutes a wide range of commercial claims on behalf of major corporations. Before joining the private sector, Ms. Albo worked with the Florida Office of the Attorney General in its Consumer Fraud Division.
Ms. Albo has litigated claims involving sexual harassment, Title VII, age and disability discrimination, workers’ compensation, whistleblower retaliation, Family and Medical Leave Act issues, unpaid overtime and other wages, and breach of restrictive covenants, among others. She has also defended numerous cases brought under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act dealing with access to public accommodations. Ms. Albo also routinely advises corporations and small business owners on personnel matters and litigation avoidance and frequently prepares employment contracts, employee handbooks, and employee audits.
Ms. Albo's commercial litigation experience also runs the gamut and includes the defense of claims involving breach of contract, premises liability, real estate transactions, collection of debts, insurance coverage, and pesonal and professional torts (such as defamation, negligence, and fraud).
While at the University of Michigan Law School, Ms. Albo served as an editor for The Michigan Journal of Gender and Law from 1993 to 1994. She also clerked for Chief Judge Gilberto Gierbolini of the U.S. District Court for Puerto Rico.
