Experience

Mr. Ebner gained extensive trial experience early in his career and was recognized locally as a finalist for the South Florida Business Journal's "Up & Comers" Award in 2006. He uses his experience to help clients resolve disputes, primarily in construction and real estate. This includes work with developers, property owners and general contractors. He also advises companies involved in insurance litigation, products liability, trust and estate litigation, ERISA litigation and other commercial disputes.

Background

Prior to joining Shutts & Bowen, Mr. Ebner practiced in a large Northeast law firm based in New York City. There he handled cases involving breach of contract, health care fraud, product liability, employment and labor law, subrogation, personal injury and real estate litigation. He worked with clients such as equipment manufacturers, real estate developers, insurance companies, health care providers, labor unions and franchisers.

Mr. Ebner began his legal career as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department, where he was involved in all phases of pre-trial civil litigation. He was soon promoted to Senior Counsel and, at the age of 26, was regularly defending New York City in large civil trials where millions of dollars were at stake. During this time, he was lead counsel in more than 30 jury trials. Several of these cases were published in the New York Jury Verdict Reporter and two cases were reported on the front page of the New York Law Journal.

In 1994, Mr. Ebner received his undergraduate degree in economics and philosophy from the State University of New York at Binghamton. In 1997, he received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School on a Richardson Merit Scholarship (a three-year academic scholarship) and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. Fluent in Hebrew, Mr. Ebner serves as the Assistant Vice President of the Hebrew Academy of Greater Miami and as a board member of the Jewish Community Center of Miami Beach.
