Biography

Lawrence P. Lataif is a Senior Immigration Counsel with Shutts & Bowen.  Mr. Lataif's practice is devoted exclusively to federal immigration law and his services are available to clients in Florida, nationally and internationally. 

For more than 30 years, Mr. Lataif has represented individuals and business clients in immigration law, including business immigration filings, corporate employment verification, special corporate visa programs, visas based on international renown or specialized knowledge, immigration filings for physicians and medical professionals, religious worker visas and litigation of immigration issues.  He has represented foreign individuals, national and international corporations, major religious denominations and non-profit organizations and foreign governments, government officials and foreign government-related entities from Europe, Asia and the Americas.

He joined Shutts in 2009 after 14 years as president of his own boutique immigration firm.  Before that, he headed the firmwide business immigration practices of global law firms in Washington, Boston and Miami, after work in federal government and private practice.  He has given client seminars and presentations to international corporations and has written and spoken on a wide range of immigration topics. 

In 2004, Mr. Lataif was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in recognition of his outstanding achievements in U.S. immigration law.
