Biography

Edmund ("Ed") Henry's courtroom experience and legal analysis allow him to get to the heart of a client's case. In his business litigation practice, he has represented clients in various industries, including aviation, pharmaceutical and real estate. He is a member of the Construction Litigation Practice Group in the firm's Miami office.

Experience

In a career committed to helping clients protect their U.S. and international businesses, Mr. Henry has represented them in a wide variety of disputes, including contract disputes, business torts and products liability.  He counsels clients at the state and federal levels and is also experienced in appellate and arbitration matters. This includes arbitrations under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association, JAMMS, and the London Court of International Arbitration.

Construction Litigation

Highly regarded for his work in construction litigation, Mr. Henry serves contractors, design and engineering professionals, and developers in many areas. Examples of previous cases include defending a contractor on a hurricane-related building collapse and advising a luxury hotel in a successful malpractice suit against an architectural firm. He also works with owners, developers and condominium associations to prosecute claims or defend against them.

Mr. Henry authored Chapter 9 of the Florida Bar CLE Manual on Construction Law and Practice, titled "Trial Preparation."

Background

Prior to joining Shutts & Bowen, Mr. Henry served as law clerk to the Honorable Bryan Simpson of the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. He received his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review.
