Biography

Bud Bennington is a trial attorney with a 30-year history of tackling tough legal issues and building strong client relationships. Clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small, private firms, count on his skills to guide them through business disputes, negotiations, complex jury trials and diverse legal actions.  As Co-Chairman of the Business Litigation Practice Group, he leads a team of litigators and handles large commercial cases for the firm.

Mr. Bennington counsels clients in several industries, including energy, manufacturing, real estate, construction, gaming and others. He has successfully resolved contract disputes, unfair and deceptive trade practices claims, environmental and construction claims, insurance matters, Internet-related issues and other matters, including large cases for high-profile clients.

A seasoned litigator with an outstanding trial record, Mr. Bennington is recognized as a highly skilled legal strategist and a compelling orator. He is also highly rated by his peers as an "AV" top-rated attorney in the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory and has served as a legal analyst on news programs such as ABC News' “Prime Time Live,” CNN’s “Larry King Live” and CNBC.

Background

Mr. Bennington began his legal career as a prosecutor for the renowned Essex County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey. Thereafter, with the advent of gaming in New Jersey, he opened a boutique trial firm in Atlantic City, where he used his extensive trial experience to win cases for local municipalities, government agencies and gaming entities.  In addition, he represented corporate, individual and ancillary service industry licensees, applicants and corporations before the New Jersey Casino Control Commission.  In 1986, he became one of the youngest persons ever to receive the Republican Party’s nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District. After a successful career in New Jersey, he moved to Florida and joined the national law firm of Greenberg Traurig, P.A., where he expanded his practice in Business Litigation. He joined Shutts & Bowen in 2002 as the Senior Trial Attorney in the Orlando office.
