Biography

Nicole A. Deese is an attorney in Shutts & Bowen's Tampa office where she practices in the firm's Litigation Department.  Ms. Deese's criminal and civil practice is focused on three primary areas: commercial litigation, securities litigation, and "white collar" criminal defense.  Ms. Deese has handled grand jury and corporate internal investigations, assisted in the development of corporate compliance  and ethics programs, and coordinated responses to subpoenas from governmental and investigative bodies.  Additionally, Ms. Deese has defended matters involving health care fraud, environmental crimes, and a significant qui tam action, as well as representing brokerage firms, financial institutions, corporations, and their associated persons in arbitration and litigation matters, administrative investigations, and proceedings before state and federal regulatory agencies and self-regulatory organizations.

Ms. Deese served as a Senior Compliance Advisor at a national brokerage firm before joining Shutts & Bowen.  She is frequently called upon to comment on issues involving the securities industry and white collar criminal matters, having recently appeared on several CNBC programs.
