Biography

Dario A. Perez brings more than a decade of litigation experience and a hands-on approach to client cases throughout Florida. A partner in the Miami Litigation Department, he uses effective strategies to minimize risk in disputes involving real estate, construction and general business. He was also recognized locally as a "Top Up & Comer" in 2005 and 2006 by the South Florida Legal Guide.

Experience

Experienced in resolving disputes in and out of court, Mr. Perez works with real estate developers, property owners, construction firms and others to handle issues that could disrupt business operations. He has defended developers against various claims and represented general contractors in construction-related disputes. He also resolved complicated issues for commercial landlords in disputes with tenants, municipalities and contractors.

Mr. Perez has experience in trials and appeals before numerous federal and state courts, public administrative bodies, and private arbitration tribunals. He has represented various businesses, including health care companies, financial institutions and manufacturers. He also has considerable experience litigating fraud claims, antitrust disputes and class action cases.

Fluent in Spanish, Mr. Perez has published several papers and book chapters on international relations.

Community Involvement

Mr. Perez is actively involved in pro bono work in the community. He is currently a Board Member for the Metropolitan Center at Florida International University and President of Bike Miami, a nonprofit entity organized to promote bicycling in South Florida.

Representative Cases

  • When a national retail developer faced a dispute with its anchor tenant in a local shopping center, Mr. Perez researched the issues, developed a plan and successfully negotiated a solution. The case, which had national implications for the developer and its anchor tenants, was settled successfully and Mr. Perez avoided a costly trial for his client.
  • Representing a local developer, Mr. Perez won a procure and cause case on a multi-million dollar sale.
  • Mr. Perez successfully defended a general contractor in a dispute involving breach of contract.
