Robert Cheng is a partner in the Real Estate Department of Shutts & Bowen’s Miami Office.
Mr. Cheng concentrates his practice in the area of real estate development and finance, and he has extensive experience in complex real estate transactions including acquisition, development, construction and permanent loans and loan work-outs for office buildings, retail centers, industrial warehouses, hotels and multi-family residential properties. He also has significant experience representing both landlords and tenants in leasing transactions as well as negotiation of partnership agreements and limited liability company operating agreements.
Mr. Cheng’s affordable housing experience includes the representation of both for-profit and not-for-profit developers (including joint ventures with municipal housing authorities) throughout the State of Florida. Such representation includes counseling for developers from the negotiation of purchase contracts or ground leases through closing of financing necessary to complete the development of the projects which frequently includes multiple layers of debt financing from public and private sources and equity investments from low income housing tax credit syndicators.
