Biography

As an attorney with considerable experience in large property development, Karen Wankelman understands the accuracy and efficiency needed in real estate. She is a partner in the Real Estate Department in Orlando, where she advises developers, lenders and others on projects throughout the region.

Experience

With nearly a decade of experience, Ms. Wankelman focuses her practice on real estate development and lending. Her considerable transactional experience includes acquisition and disposition of income and vacant property, commercial leasing, financing and development of mixed-use projects, office buildings and both commercial and residential condominiums.  She has also served as developer's counsel in the conveyancing and ground leasing of out-parcels at the Millenia project in Orlando.

An active member of the downtown Orlando community, Ms. Wankelman has represented local developers and community banks in projects such as Thornton Park Central, Eola South and Osceola Brownstones. Representative clients include Ustler Development, Inc., United Heritage Bank and RBC Centura Bank.

Activities

Ms. Wankelman is the former Vice-Chairperson of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee for The Florida Bar. She was named one of 2002's "Up and Comers" by the Orlando Business Journal and is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando.
