Jonathan Cohen is the Chairman of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. He is a commercial litigator, concentrating his practice in intellectual property litigation. Mr. Cohen handles patent, copyright and trademark litigation and provides advice to clients on intellectual property issues, including preparing trademark registrations and representing clients in proceedings before the Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Cohen recently tried a trademark infringement and unfair competition case that resulted in a jury award of $50 million dollars. He has also litigated cases involving related issues of seizure of counterfeit goods, unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets and non-competition agreements, as well as copyright litigation involving computer software and licensing agreements. Mr. Cohen is also experienced in related antitrust litigation.
Mr. Cohen has also represented franchisors in a variety of franchise litigation, including franchisee termination; quality assurance litigation and international franchising disputes. Mr. Cohen has provided expert witness testimony on securities fraud matters and also on behalf of franchisors concerning UFOC requirements. Mr. Cohen also has provided advice and represented corporations and municipalities in antitrust litigation and has represented clients in litigation involving dealership termination issues. He has also litigated cases involving related issues of unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets and non-competition agreements.
Mr. Cohen also represents public companies in connection with internal corporate investigations. These investigations have involved a variety of allegations, including corporate mismanagement, self-dealing, inaccurate financial reporting and criminal law violations.
