Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Anitra D. Lanczi, a Partner in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, was selected as President of the Board of Directors of Seafarers’ House.

Seafarers' House is a nonprofit organization that provides services to  the port community and to crew serving on vessels calling at Port Everglades.  Seafarers' House began in 1989 with four telephones and a 400 square foot hospitality center. Today, its 4,200 square foot facility hosts over 100,000 crew visits each year, more than any other agency in North America.  The facility provides a general store, internet café, lounge areas, telephone banks, wire transfer services, a chapel and transportation.  During the winter cruise season, over 1,500 phone calls are placed worldwide in a single day.  Seafarers’ House supporters and board members include representatives from the business, labor and religious communities, including Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim religions.

Ms. Lanczi is a member of Shutts & Bowen’s Governmental Law Practice Group and has been practicing law for more than 25 years.  She is on the Beach Council Board of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and board of the Port Everglades Association.  Anitra is also the former Chair of the Broward County Diversity Advisory Council and a member of the Florida Bar, City, County and Local Government Law Section, and Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
