Derrick Valkenburg, a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Orlando office, was a featured speaker for the Central Florida Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors 2022 NEXGEN Leadership Training Program on January 20.
The NEXGEN training session, sponsored by Shutts, was part of an 8-month curriculum designed to enhance the leadership skills and knowledge of high potential construction professionals throughout the program. During the presentation, Derrick covered topics of specific importance to the emerging leaders, including construction politics and economic and workforce development. As a member of the Legislative and Political Action Committee, Derrick was also able to discuss updates to cause-related initiatives covered at ABC’s annual LegCon event in Tallahassee.
Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) is the largest commercial construction trade association in Florida, with the Central Florida Chapter ABC (CFC ABC) representing companies doing business in the counties of Orange, Lake, Volusia, Seminole and Osceola. Derrick M. Valkenburg is a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Orlando office, where he is a member of the Construction Litigation Practice Group. Derrick’s practice focuses on construction, commercial and real property litigation. He often represents developers, contractors, material suppliers, and design professionals in disputes involving construction defect claims, delay claims, construction lien issues, contract disputes, and insurance coverage issues.
