The Public Finance/Government Law Practice Group at Shutts & Bowen advises clients with regard to public finance matters as well as governmental law issues.

Our public finance attorneys represent financial institutions, issuers and non-governmental borrowers, and underwriters in a wide range of public finance transactions in the State of Florida, including representing banks providing credit enhancement, purchasing bonds, and restructuring credit arrangements with borrowers.  We are active members of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and listed in the Red Book.

We pride ourselves on the coordination of resources to meet our clients’ needs and responsibilities.  For example, in advising financial institutions in public finance transactions we take into account the need to document the transaction appropriately and create a foundation for good relations with the borrower and the other members of the financing team going forward, and in counseling governmental issuers it is our goal to achieve the best results for the issuer and its citizens within the framework of its policies and applicable law.

Our government practice group advises companies in contractual issues with governmental entities and counsels a variety of local and regional governments including counties, cities, school boards, water management districts, regional planning councils, housing authorities, redevelopment authorities, community development districts, and other special districts.  The attorneys who support this practice group have considerable experience in local government law issues involving public finance, land use, eminent domain, infrastructure development, procurement, benefits and employment and construction litigation.

Our understanding of state and local government is bolstered by our legacy of public service and a keen knowledge of the regulatory, legislative and administrative processes.  For additional information about the services provided by our Governmental Practice Group see Government Law.
