Douglass E. Myers III is a Partner in the Jacksonville office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group.

Doug’s practice is focused on commercial and corporate real estate transactions, land use and zoning, and sustainability, as well as matters related to environmental and construction law. He has broad experience representing large and global corporate clients in a variety of real estate, general business, and technology-related matters.

Doug’s real estate practice primarily consists of closings of commercial and industrial property and corporate leasing, with a particular focus on tenants/occupiers. With years of experience directly managing corporate real estate portfolios, Doug is able to advise clients through the lifespan of specific transactions — from acquisition and lease negotiation to design and work letter requirements — or through more general projects and strategic initiatives, including lease administration, portfolio optimization, corporate reporting, and lease restructure work.

Doug’s land use and zoning practice, which is built upon years of work for large institutional clients like railroads, petroleum retailers, and REITs, includes related aspects of environmental and construction law. He’s experienced with licenses and easements, rezoning/PUDs, DRI entitlements/modifications, collateral swaps, and site remediation compliance. He also has experience negotiating engineering, general contractor, and design-build agreements on complex construction projects.

Currently, Doug is building a sustainability practice based on prior green building programming work and work he is doing as a member of the executive team of Florida For Good, which helps organizations achieve their ESG initiatives by certifying as B Corps and/or by developing programs to incorporate sustainable business practices into their operations.
