Miami partner Arthur Furia hosted a reception to welcome Father Peter Donohue, O.S.A., President of Villanova University. The event was held in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen and welcomed over 65 alumni, parents, friends and community leaders. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Xavier Suarez, Class of 1971, presented Father Donohue with a set of official Miami-Dade County cufflinks from his friends in Miami.
Other distinguished guests included Dr. Eduardo Padron, President-Miami Dade College; Joe Natoli, COO-Baptist Health Systems; Bill Johnson, former Secretary of Commerce for State of Florida; Father Elie Saade-Pastor Our Lady of Lebanon; Arthur Halleran, Chairman-QueensFort Investment Corporation and former member of Villanova Board of Trustees; Doug Gaston, General Counsel-Comcast and Villanova Board of Trustees member; and Gregory McGowan, General Counsel and Senior VP-Franklin Templeton Investments.
Art Furia has been involved with Villanova University since his time as a student there. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1974 and his law degree in 1980. While in law school, he taught undergraduate accounting and tax courses in the business school. He continues to actively serve on advisory boards in both the business school and law school. Art has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and remains involved in the Miami area alumni chapter, having previously served as its president.
