In “To Decline or Accept? – Scrutinizing CFPB’s New Arbitration Rule Proposal,” Shutts associate Jennifer Newton will sit on a panel of professionals and thought leaders assembled by The Knowledge Group to discuss the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB’s) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Arbitration Agreements. This proposed rule is facing strong opposition from various organizations in the financial industry. This regulation would prohibit mandatory arbitration clauses in consumer financial contracts and would require companies to disclose information regarding the arbitrations conducted under agreements.
Jennifer will be giving an overview and statutory background of the CFPB’s proposed rule and its scope as well as a forecast of the potential legal and political challenges to the final rule. Other key topics include implications to the financial services industry, risk management and best practices in responding to the rule.
The webcast will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, December 5.
