Miami partner Ricardo J. Souto, Co-Chair of Shutts & Bowen’s Tax & International Law Practice Group, has been named to the STEP Miami Board of Directors.
The Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) is the global professional association for practitioners who specialize in family inheritance and succession planning. The organization works to improve public understanding of the issues families face in this area and promote education and high professional standards among their members.
Founded in 2000, the STEP Miami Branch is one of the largest and most active in the Americas. Consistent with the objectives of STEP, the Miami branch provides practitioners with access to high level trusts and estates resources for all its members. The branch is run by a committee of 12 directors and comprises an expanding membership of more than 200 professionals from across Miami’s accounting, legal, banking and fiduciary sectors.

Ricardo J. Souto is a partner in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he practices taxation, estate planning and corporate planning and is Co-Chair of the Tax & International Law Practice Group. Ricardo regularly represents and advises foreign clients on their investments in the United States and related U.S. income tax and estate planning matters. He represents numerous domestic clients in matters involving corporate mergers and acquisitions, income tax planning, and corporate structuring. He also advises clients on federal tax planning as well as state and local tax issues.
