Ben Gibson Recognized as one of the 150 Most Influential People in Florida Politics

Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Tallahassee partner Benjamin J. Gibson has been recognized in the INFLUENCE 150, INFLUENCE Magazine’s list of the 150 most influential people in Florida politics.

The 2022 edition of the INFLUENCE 150’s honorees include political players, thought leaders, lobbyists, counselors, media, industry leaders and advocates within Florida’s political environment. The list, created by publisher Peter Schorsch, does not include any elected officials or agency heads, instead recognizing others that shape today’s political scene in the state.

The magazine recognizes Ben as an ever-present advisor helping to shape and grow the movement of Florida’s political landscape. His experience in Florida politics and political law has included service as the Deputy General Counsel and an Assistant General Counsel to Florida Governor Rick Scott for nearly five years, chief counsel to the Republican Party of Florida during the last three election cycles, general counsel to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Transition Team, and representation of many prominent state and federal political party committees, campaigns, and political committees. He also was appointed by Governor DeSantis to Florida’s seven-member State Board of Education, where he serves as Vice Chair, and was appointed by Governor DeSantis to Florida’s First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission.

According to attorney Jesse Panuccio, a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner LLP and former Acting Associate Attorney General of the United States:

“Ben has become a trusted adviser to Florida’s political heavyweights because of his long history of providing wise counsel, strategic insights, and (importantly) discretion. And, as if his legal influence were not enough to merit inclusion on this list, Ben also serves as vice chair for the State Board of Education, putting him at the center of one of the most important policy issues in the state. Ben’s star continues to rise in the Sunshine State, and we are lucky to have him.”
