Derrick Valkenburg Presents to Associated Builders and Contractors of Central Florida

Derrick Valkenburg , a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Orlando office, was a featured speaker for the Central Florida Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors presentation to the Contractors HR Peer Group on August 15, 2023.

During the presentation, “Understanding the 2023 Immigration Policies,” Derrick spoke to the Peer Group about how HR professionals can respond to the new immigration policies that recently passed, the interplay between Florida and Federal laws, and what is coming next. The presentation and Peer Group discussions generated thoughtful considerations on how Florida’s new immigration policies affect the construction industry and its workforce, and ways construction professionals can educate the construction community on the various implications.
