Shutts' Focus on Women Group hosts panel with United Way Women UnitedOn Wednesday, March 11, Shutts & Bowen’s Focus on Women Group hosted a panel of female businesswoman from the United Way of Miami-Dade’s Women United.

Featuring Melissa Gracey, Chief Marketing Officer of Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors + CPAs, and Christina Pappas, Vice President of The Keyes Family of Companies, the discussion focused on the responsibility women bear to support their fellow women in the workplace; how to create paths for women to follow; the most significant barriers to female leadership; and advice for women looking to grow within the company they work for. Both panelists noted the importance of having strong mentors within your organization as well as outside of the workplace.

The panel was moderated by Miami partner Aliette DelPozo Rodz, Co-Chair of the firm’s International Dispute Resolution Practice Group and Chair of the firm's Diversity Committee and Focus on Women Group.

Aliette spoke about the importance of women having the confidence to rise as high in their careers as they desire, but also to be someone who helps to groom the succeeding generation of female professionals.

“It remains a challenge, but we are seeing an ongoing shift in the direction of greater female leadership,” Aliette said. “It is also very important for women to give back to the up and coming women who are following you so they may find an easier path than we had.”
