Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Lauren A. Taylor, a partner in the firm’s Tampa office, has been accepted into Class V of the Florida Fellows Institute of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).

The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) is a national organization of lawyers elected to membership by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors. The Florida Fellows Institute was created by Florida Fellows of the ACTEC to develop the legal profession’s future trust and estate leaders through a series of in-depth educational presentations led by outstanding subject matter experts in each field.

Lauren is an active member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of both the Florida Bar and the Hillsborough County Bar Association, among other prestigious volunteer and leadership roles, and has published articles on trusts and estates topics. She assists a diverse range of clients with estate planning and related real estate and corporate matters. She represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries with trust and estate administration and litigation throughout Florida and has assisted with tax controversy matters before the U.S. Tax Court.  Lauren also assists clients with establishing private foundations and other tax exempt organizations and operational advice.

Each incoming class member of the Florida Fellows Institute must be nominated by an ACTEC Fellow and be a member in good standing with The Florida Bar. Lauren will complete the seven-month program in three, two-day sessions taught by ACTEC Fellows on topics including estate and trust litigation, wealth transfer strategies, and fiduciary taxation.

Lauren A. Taylor is a Partner in the Tampa office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Private Client Services Practice Group. Lauren focuses her practice in the areas of wills, trusts, and estates, and has experience with estate planning and the preparation of revocable and irrevocable trusts; estate and trust administration; estate and trust litigation; modification and termination of irrevocable trusts; federal estate and gift taxation; private foundations and other tax exempt organizations; pre-marital and post-marital agreements; and business succession planning. Lauren has also represented public and private companies and individuals in a broad range of matters, including business, real estate, and employment litigation in state and federal courts and on appeal.
