Miami partner Patrick Lannon co-presented a webinar titled “Protecting an Inheritance in the Event of Divorce” for Ellevate.

Patrick discussed estate planning techniques for those wishing for their inheritance to be kept in the family line and out of the hands of their descendants’ ex-spouses. Additionally, Patrick went into further detail about transmutation risk, offset risk, alimony risk, privacy risk, and restructuring existing estate planning to reduce risk.

Patrick also explained how he encourages his clients to consider the various ways gifted assets are taken into consideration or otherwise affect divorce proceedings and how important it is to work with one’s advisors to craft an appropriate plan in each circumstance.

Patrick presented alongside Dolly Hernandez, a family law attorney with Boyd Richards Parker & Colonnelli, P.L.
