Patrick Lannon to Discuss the Enforceability of a Limited Liability Company Inheritance Agreement

On April 7, Miami partner Patrick Lannon will be a guest speaker at the Coral Gables/South Dade Estate Planning Council April meeting. The event will be held at the at Coral Gables Hyatt from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Patrick’s topic “Is a Limited Liability Company Inheritance Agreement Enforceable?” will discuss the current state of Florida law on whether LLC membership interests may pass on death through a pay on death designation or a binding inheritance agreement without recourse to probate or revocable trust planning.  Patrick will also explain some reasons why such planning may be implemented, including the centralized partnership audit regime, avoidance of ancillary probate, and succession planning for family businesses.
