Shutts & Bowen Hosts Italian Consul General Adolfo Barattolo in West Palm Beach Office


Twenty-five Palm Beach County civic, business and governmental leaders greeted Italian Consul General Adolfo Barattolo and his wife Federica Barattolo at a luncheon held at Shutts & Bowen’s West Palm Beach office recently.

“Palm Beach County is one of the most vibrant areas of the state, and Consul General Barattolo was delighted to meet with its leadership while promoting cultural, educational and business ties between Florida and Italy,” said Shutts & Bowen Partner Arthur J. Furia, a member of the firm’s international corporate practice group, longtime champion of Italy-USA commerce and General Counsel for the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF).

Luncheon guests included West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio; State Sen. Maria Sachs; Palm Beach State College Provost Dr. Bernadette Russell; John F. Scarpa, Chairman of the John Scarpa Foundation and board member of NIAF; Carl Domino, former Florida State Representative and head of Carl Domino, Inc.; John J. Cafaro, CEO of the Cafaro Group; Nicholas DiTempora, Chairman of the Board of Mapei Corporation;  Michael Bracci, President of Northern Trust of Palm Beach; Palm Beach County Judge Sandra Bosso-Pardo.  Shutts & Bowen Managing Partner Joseph Bolton and partners Al LaSorte and John Mariani joined Mr. Furia in hosting the event.

Consul General and Mrs. Federica Barattolo joined Mr. Furia on Friday morning at The Breakers Palm Beach to meet with Town of Palm Beach Mayor Gail Coniglio, welcomed by The Breakers CEO, Paul Leone.

Mr. Furia serves on the Board of Directors of NIAF, based in Washington, D.C., and is its General Counsel and a member of its Executive Committee.  He is the State of Florida representative for the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy (AMCHAM), and past president of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce.

Consul General Barattolo’s mission is to promote business and trade opportunities and expand educational and cultural exchanges. He has enjoyed an extensive career as a diplomat representing Italy on several continents.  His Consular region includes Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, St. Marteen, St. Eustatius, Saba and the Bahamas.
