Shutts & Bowen was proud to sponsor the World Open Cup 2012, which took place at the Miami Yacht Club on Watson Island November 1-3, 2012. Over three days, 150 sailors aged 9-14, from 14 different countries, competed for the title of O'Pen Bic World Open Cup Champion.
"The World Open Cup is an excellent opportunity for youth sailors to enjoy competitive sailing in a safe and fun environment," said Bryan Wells, a partner in Shutts & Bowen's Miami office. "The race was thrilling and the firm was proud to support it."
For the first time in its history, the event was held in the United States. The championships have previously been in Switzerland and the Caribbean. The Miami Yacht Club was chosen specifically due to its prime sailboat racing location in Biscayne Bay.
