On June 18, 2020, the newly elected executive board members of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association were sworn in during a virtual installation ceremony by Broward County Court Judge Kal Evans. Ashley V. Gantt, an attorney in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, was sworn in as President for the 2020-21 year.
“I am honored to serve, alongside our Executive Board members, as the incoming President of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association. I look forward to advocating for diversity on the bench, educating the community, and promoting professional excellence among Black attorneys,” she stated.
Ashley is a member of Shutts’ Class Action & Mass Litigation practice group. She focuses her practice on insurance defense.
While in law school, Ashley served as the Nova Southeastern University Black Law Students Association President and Secretary. Additionally, Ashley earned the Honorable Charles I. Kaplan Outstanding Service Award for demonstrating dedication and commitment to children and families through her work in the Children and Families Clinic.
The T.J. Reddick Bar Association is dedicated to promoting the professional excellence of Black lawyers in Broward County, increasing the enrollment of minority students in college and law school, and promoting the general welfare of all citizens in Broward County. The Association named after the Honorable Thomas J. Reddick, was the first Black attorney to open an office and practice law in Broward County. Judge Reddick was the first Black attorney appointed to the Broward County Court of Record and the first Black attorney to serve as a Circuit Court Judge in the State of Florida.
