Benjamin Sorrell, an attorney in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Sarasota office, will speak during the “Post Occupancy: What is it and Should a Buyer Allow It?” panel on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 1:30 PM.
The panel discussion, hosted by the REALTOR® Association of Sarasota and Manatee, will focus on how Seller Post-Closing Occupancy Agreements are on the rise, as well as the risks to avoid when a seller wants to remain in a property. Panelists will also cover the nuances of post-closing agreements, insurance, security deposits, escrow hold backs and worse-case scenario situations.

Benjamin C. Sorrell is an Associate in the Sarasota office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group. Ben focuses his practice on general real estate matters and commercial real estate. Ben has represented lenders and homeowners in foreclosure cases, and has worked with parties involved in HOA and condominium association disputes. During law school, Ben was selected to intern with the Honorable Virginia Hernandez-Covington in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. Ben enjoys giving back to his community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Gulfcoast Legal Services, Inc., a pro bono legal aid organization that provides direct services to underprivileged and elderly clients. Ben is also an adjunct professor of law at Stetson University College of Law.
