Shutts & Bowen LLP Tampa Partner and Co-Chair of the Business Litigation Practice Group Eric S. Adams was recently featured in the Tampa Bay Business Journal article, “Why This Century-Old Florida Law Firm Became an AI Champion,” discussing the firm’s adoption of artificial intelligence and its growing impact on the legal profession.
Eric is among several attorneys helping lead the implementation of AI resources at Shutts. In the article, he explained how the firm has invested in developing a platform of AI-enabled tools designed to enhance efficiency, strengthen legal analysis and allow attorneys to devote more time to client strategy.
“AI is not going to replace lawyers, but lawyers who know how to use AI are going to replace lawyers who don’t,” Eric told the publication.
He also shared a recent example in which an AI tool transcribed and analyzed approximately 48 to 72 hours of voicemail recordings, reducing the review process to roughly 90 minutes. Eric noted that efficiencies like these can significantly reduce the time and expense associated with labor-intensive tasks while enabling attorneys to focus on substantive legal issues, case strategy and potential paths toward an earlier resolution.
According to Eric, the effective and responsible use of AI offers a competitive advantage as increasingly sophisticated clients come to expect their legal counsel to use technology to deliver services more efficiently.
