Michael Silver Named to The Poynter Institute Foundation Board

Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Michael Silver, a partner in the firm’s Tampa office, has been named to The Poynter Institute Foundation Board.

The Poynter Institute for Media Studies, founded in 1975, is a global leader in journalism. It is the world’s leading instructor, innovator, convener, and resource for anyone who aspires to engage and inform citizens. Poynter champions freedom of expression, civil dialogue, and compelling journalism that helps citizens participate in healthy democracies. It prepares journalists worldwide to hold powerful people accountable and promote honest information in the marketplace of ideas.

The Foundation supports Poynter through formal fundraising efforts. The goal of the Foundation Board, which is comprised of community and media leaders, is to expand Poynter’s reach and influence in improving journalism as an essential tool of our democracy. With his fellow Board members, Michael will work to increase philanthropic support for Poynter. He will donate his time and resources to support the Foundation in its mission to advance philanthropic donations through campaigns, special events, and other advancement programs.

Michael Silver is a partner in the Tampa office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group.
