West Palm Beach, FL – Shutts & Bowen, a full-service business law firm, is pleased to announce that Matthew R. Chait has been named Managing Partner of the firm’s West Palm Beach office. He takes over the position from Arthur J. Menor, who served in the role for 24 years.
Chait, a partner in the Business Litigation Practice Group who started at Shutts as an associate almost 17 years ago, focuses his practice on commercial real estate litigation, as well as general business litigation.
“Matt is a leader and mentor in the West Palm Beach office and will serve the office well as managing partner,” said Menor. “I look forward to continuing to work closely with him to ensure the office continues its growth trajectory.”
Firmwide Managing Partner Jack C. McElroy added that Matt is well-prepared for leading the office through 2023 and beyond.
“Matt has some very large shoes to fill in succeeding Art Menor as our West Palm Beach Office Managing Partner, however Art and I are confident that he is up to the task,” he said. “Matt is deeply familiar with the business and legal issues facing South Florida. His local knowledge, combined with his strategic focus and reputation for exceptional client service, will greatly benefit the firm.”
Chait is an active member of the Palm Beach community. He serves on the Board of Directors and as a Trustee of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, and also serves on the Board of Directors of Resource Depot, a non-profit organization that collects and distributes reusable material to the arts and education community. He is a graduate of the 2015 class of Leadership Palm Beach County, as well as a longtime member of the American Heart Association’s Executives with Heart.

He received his undergraduate degree from University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
