Shutts Orlando Fights Hunger with Heart of Florida United Way

Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Orlando office supported Heart of Florida United Way on November 14, 2023, with a community service packing project to distribute meals to the hungry before the Thanksgiving holiday. With the help of Shutts employees and their families, the organization was able to pack and distribute food for 4,000 families, approximately 16,000 hungry people in the community.

Attorneys and staff from the firm’s Orlando office devoted time after work to volunteer at the warehouse, sorting and packaging foods for distribution. In attendance at the volunteer event were Alex Zehmer, John Rutledge, Caity Spellman, Michael Wilson, Sara Ferguson, Brittany Herrmann, Vanessa Lavarez and supporting family members.

Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW) stands up for the education, financial stability, health and basic needs of every person in Central Florida. Since 1939, HFUW has delivered programs, invested dollars, and convened community members around important issues impacting Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. As Central Florida’s most comprehensive health and human services nonprofit, HFUW created a $50 million impact in Central Florida last year alone.
