Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Construction Practice Group leader, Timothy D. Woodward, and Orlando partner John H. Dannecker, recently authored an in-depth overview on Florida construction law, featured alongside the recently released 2021 Chambers USA Florida legal rankings.
In-depth overviews offer insight into the state of the legal market, accompanying Chambers USA ranking tables for the relevant practice area. In their editorial for the 2021 Florida Construction Law Overview, Tim and John advise general counsel and buyers of legal services on critical legal considerations in Florida construction claims, which when overlooked, can trigger prolonged disputes or defeat. In the piece, they point out specific legal applications to Florida construction claims which are routinely skipped or misinterpreted by legal practitioners from other jurisdictions or areas of legal expertise outside of construction. Among other issues distinct to Florida construction law, Tim and John discuss the adoption of the Daubert standard, economic losses, pre-suit procedures, indemnity provisions, liens, bonds and damages.
