Shutts & Bowen LLP partner, Daniel T. O’Keefe, has been appointed by Governor Charlie Crist to a 3 year term on the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, running through November, 2009. This is Mr. O’Keefe’s second term with the Planning Council, which serves all the communities within the six county region of Brevard, Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Orange and Osceola. His first appointment to the Council was made by former Governor, Jeb Bush. The Council reviews developments of regional impact within this east central Florida area and its Board is comprised of elected officials and nine members appointed by the Governor.
As Co-Chair of Shutts & Bowen’s Real Estate Practice Group, Mr. O’Keefe practices in the area of real estate and land use law with a focus on multi-family developments, residential developments, representation of financial institutions and large scale multi-use projects. He is active in the Orlando community and has been the President of the West Orange Political Alliance (a political action committee representing its community); Member of the Board of Directors for Smart Growth Alliance; and Member, West Orange Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he was active in the Wekiva River System Advisory Management Committee, an appointment made by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior.
