Eight New Attorneys Join Shutts & Bowen

Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce the addition of eight new attorneys to the firm. These new hires bring a diverse range of legal experience to support our more than 30 practice areas. With approximately 280 attorneys throughout the state of Florida, Shutts & Bowen is proud of hiring attorneys that exemplify the firm’s century of leadership and service.

Aaron M. Ahlzadeh (Associate, Miami) is a member of the Insurance Practice Group. Aaron’s practice focuses on representing insurance carriers in litigation related to coverage, liability, and bad faith. He also has extensive experience in conducting pre-suit investigations, examinations under oath, and coverage evaluations on behalf of insurers. Prior to joining Shutts & Bowen, Aaron worked at a national defense firm representing insurance carriers, contractors, and financial institutions in first-party coverage disputes, construction defect claims, and securities litigation.

Laura S. Bauman (Partner, Sarasota) is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group. Laura focuses her practice on commercial litigation matters including contract disputes, title defects, and lien foreclosures. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of real estate and construction, with extensive experience in examination of title issues and resolution of claims relating to competing property interests, survey and legal description challenges, extinguishing liens and encumbrances, and resolving construction contract and defect disputes.

William G. McCullough (Partner, Miami) is a member of the Corporate Practice Group. William focuses his practice on the structuring of complex investment transactions and business organizations, private fund formation, and transactional and regulatory matters involving domestic and international financial institutions. His corporate work entails structuring real estate-related joint ventures and other investment vehicles for use in projects involving the development of luxury condominiums, hotels, restaurants, and other commercial and residential properties.

Kimberly A. Prior (Partner, Miami) is a member of the Financial Services Practice Group. She handles regulatory, transactional, enforcement and corporate matters for domestic and international financial services firms and businesses, including banks, broker-dealers, investment advisers and private equity funds. Kimberly also advises financial institutions and technology companies on regulatory, licensing, corporate and compliance issues in the FinTech space.

Cari R. Shapiro (Associate, Miami) is a member of the Class Action & Mass Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining the firm, Cari represented national companies in litigation for claims involving healthcare, personal injury, contract disputes, and product liability matters. While in law school, Cari interned for the Miami-Dade County Public Defender.

Andrew T. Silvershein (Associate, West Palm Beach) is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group. Andrew focuses his practice on the areas of business, real estate, and construction litigation.  Prior to joining Shutts & Bowen, Andrew practiced at a statewide litigation firm where he handled general liability, construction defect, and first party property matters.

Fred S. Werdine (Partner, Tampa) is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group. Fred focuses exclusively in the areas of eminent domain, condemnation, inverse condemnation and property rights litigation. With more than 30 years of experience, Fred has represented property and business owners throughout the state of Florida when the government has sought to take their property.

William M. Woods (Associate, Tampa) is a member of the Construction Litigation Practice Group. William regularly represents contractors, developers, design professionals, surveyors, and engineers throughout Florida in all areas of construction-related civil litigation. Prior to becoming an attorney, William spent six years as a consultant at a boutique engineering and environmental firm.
