
Shutts & Bowen LLP Orlando partner Brett Renton spoke at the Florida Airports Council 57th Annual Conference & Exposition on July 28, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida during the Environmental Committee’s session on PFAS Transitioning.
During the session, Brett addressed new legislation restricting aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and the other panelists addressed their experience with the transition from PFAS containing AFFF to fluorine free foam (FFF) at airports. They also discussed the next steps for PFAS management, environmental effects of FFF and the impact this legislation will have on airports procurements for both disposal of AFFF containing PFAS and FFF over the coming year and the future.
