Brett Renton to Speak on PFAS Litigation at the 2020 Florida Airports Council Summit

Brett Renton, a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Orlando office, will be a featured instructor at the 2020 Florida Airports Council Virtual Education and Training Summit, where he will address ongoing PFAS product-liability litigation filed by airports.

The 2020 Summit will take place virtually, Wednesday, October 7 through Friday, October 9. The event will span 2.5 days and will offer training, workshops, educational sessions and professional development opportunities to attendees. On the first day of the summit, Brett will participate as an instructor in a program titled, “PFAS Part 1:  The PFAS Problem: an overview of the issue, product-liability litigation update; airport construction and other implications.” Brett and his fellow instructors will offer insight on evolving issues related to the mandated use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at airports, including discussion on PFAS pervasiveness in the environment, how to approach an investigation, regulatory interactions, contamination management and updates on product-liability lawsuits filed against the manufacturers of the dangerous chemicals. Providing further context on the PFAS litigation to attendees, Brett will discuss settlements and litigation outcomes from certain cases across the country, the Multi-District Litigation pending in South Carolina and the challenges and expectations of litigating in the PFAS Multi-District litigation.
