Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Ella Shenhav, a partner in the Tampa office, has been selected by the firm’s Pro Bono Committee as the recipient of the Third Annual Shutts & Bowen Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award. The award was presented to Ella at a reception in the Tampa office on October 1, 2026.

Ella was chosen for this honor in recognition of her decades of dedicated community service and her leadership in advancing pro bono and volunteer initiatives within the firm. Throughout her career, she has exemplified the firm’s long-standing commitment to giving back and supporting those in need through legal advocacy.

A dedicated advocate in the Tampa Bay community, Ella served as a Board Member of Bay Area Legal Services from 2020 to 2022 and as Executive Director of Project H.E.L.P. Tampa, a pro bono clinic providing legal assistance to homeless and indigent individuals. She has also served as a Board Member and volunteer attorney with Are You Safe. Ella’s commitment to charitable and pro bono initiatives has been recognized by Florida Trend’s Legal Elite and the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee, which honored her with its “Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Lawyer” award.

“Ella has consistently demonstrated an exceptional commitment to serving others through her pro bono work,” said Jack C. McElroy, Firmwide Managing Partner of Shutts & Bowen. “We are proud to recognize Ella with this award and celebrate the meaningful impact she has made within the firm and throughout the broader community.”

Pro bono work provides invaluable support to clients of low or no income who otherwise would navigate the legal system alone. It also offers newer attorneys opportunities to develop practical experience, strengthen advocacy skills, and make a meaningful difference.

“Ella’s commitment to pro bono service reflects the very best of our profession,” said Michael Gore, Co-Chair of the Shutts Pro Bono Committee. “She continually makes a difference for her pro bono clients while balancing the demands of a busy practice. Her dedication sets an example for all of us and encourages us to continue finding ways to give back.”
