Joe Goldstein Recognized with Shutts & Bowen Outstanding Pro Bono Service AwardShutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Joseph M. Goldstein, a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office, has been selected by the firm’s Pro Bono Committee as the recipient of the Second Annual Shutts & Bowen Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award. The award was presented to Joe at a reception in the Fort Lauderdale office on October 28, 2025.

Joe was chosen for this honor in recognition of his decades of dedicated community service and his leadership in advancing pro bono and volunteer initiatives within the firm. Throughout his career, he has exemplified the firm’s long-standing commitment to giving back and supporting those in need through legal advocacy.

An active leader in the South Florida community, Joe is the former Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Broward Public Library Foundation; a board member of the Broward Workshop; a board member and Past Chair of South Florida Public Media Group/WLRN; and the former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Leadership Broward Foundation. He also shared in the firm’s recognition as "Law Firm of the Year" by Legal Aid of Broward County, awarded to Shutts & Bowen’s Fort Lauderdale office for its ongoing financial support of Broward Lawyers Care (BLC), Legal Aid's Pro Bono Division.

“Joe has truly led by example when it comes to pro bono work,“ said Jack C. McElroy, Firmwide Managing Partner of Shutts & Bowen. “We are honored to present this award to Joe and recognize his outstanding contributions to the firm and the broader community.”

Pro bono work provides invaluable support to clients of low or no income who otherwise would navigate the legal system alone. It also offers newer attorneys opportunities to develop practical experience, strengthen advocacy skills, and make a meaningful difference.

“Joe’s dedication to pro bono work represents the highest ideals of our profession,” said Ella Shenhav, Co-Chair of the Shutts Pro Bono Committee. “He has demonstrated that it is possible to find time to devote to pro bono clients even with a busy practice. He inspires us to do more.”
