Michael R. Whitt is a partner in the Sarasota office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Government Law practice group.

A veteran trial attorney with nearly 40 years of experience, Michael concentrates his practice in the areas of business litigation and real estate disputes, as well as eminent domain and inverse condemnation matters. He is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Business Litigation, serving as lead trial counsel in significant multimillion-dollar business and real estate disputes in both state and federal courts. His experience includes counseling a wide variety of clients, from individuals and small businesses, to Fortune 100 companies, internationally-known recording artists, and foreign individuals and businesses.

Michael also leverages his extensive trial experience with his deep knowledge of eminent domain laws and government and construction regulations to counsel clients through all stages of the eminent domain process, from initial acquisition procedures through trial. His diverse project experience throughout Florida includes road right-of-way, gas transmission lines, electrical powerlines, flood control and storm water management, public parks, schools, municipal water and wastewater projects, sewer projects and noise walls.
