Martha M. Ferral

Martha Ferral is a Partner in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the International Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group. Martha focuses her practice on representing international and domestic clients in complex litigation, arbitration, and business transactions.

Martha’s practice includes representing clients in complex commercial litigation in U.S. state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings before the ICDR, AAA, ICC, FINRA, and other international forums. Martha has worked on a wide range of disputes, including corporate shareholder and investment disputes, energy and aviation matters, contract disputes, commercial and residential foreclosures, creditors’ rights and securitization matters, bankruptcy-related issues, and commercial and residential landlord-tenant litigation.

In addition to her litigation and arbitration practice, Martha has advised clients on international business transactions and cross-border regulatory and compliance matters. She has counseled domestic financial institutions, broker-dealers, and investment advisory firms on regulatory issues in multiple foreign jurisdictions. Her transactional experience includes assisting high-net-worth foreign clients with U.S. trust structuring, including the transition of foreign revocable trusts into U.S.-based irrevocable trusts, vetting U.S. financial institutions and advisors, and advising on financing transactions such as loans for the acquisition of private aircraft. Fluent in Spanish, Martha frequently advises international clients on cross-border legal issues.

Martha is also committed to leadership and development within the legal profession. She is a member of the Miami-Dade Bar, the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (M-D FAWL), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA), the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), and the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA).

Prior to starting law school, Martha worked for more than 20 years as a paralegal in the International Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group, gaining international and litigation experience that provided a solid foundation and seamlessly supported her transition to the practice of law as an attorney.
