Shutts & Bowen Elevates Six Attorneys to Partnership

Shutts & Bowen LLP announced today the elevation of six new partners, effective January 1, 2023.

“These lawyers have a broad range of skills and are successful in their careers because they have exceptional ability, are dedicated to their clients with the highest standards of service and are committed to continuing the success of our firm,” said Firmwide Managing Partner Jack C. McElroy.  “Shutts is extremely proud to have them progress to partnership level.”

The new partners, from various offices throughout the firm, are listed below:

Erik M. Hanson is in the Sarasota office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Construction Law Practice Group. Erik focuses his practice on construction law, including the negotiation and drafting of construction contracts and construction dispute resolution. He has argued numerous appeals, including before the Second District Court of Appeal.

Matthew Innes is in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Class Action and Mass Litigation Practice Group. Matthew focuses his practice on personal injury protection litigation matters, with an emphasis on the interpretation and application of automobile insurance policies. He has represented multiple insurance carriers in all phases of litigation.

Elizabeth King is in the Tampa office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group. Her practice includes a broad range of litigation matters, including consumer finance litigation, real estate litigation, business tort litigation and intellectual property litigation.

Bruce T. Lower is in the Orlando office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group. Bruce focuses his practice on loans secured by real property (including construction loans), the acquisition and disposition of real property, and real property development. He advises clients on the financing, acquisition, development and operation of real property in many asset classes, including multi-family residential, office, retail, healthcare, industrial, timeshare and fractional ownership, resort condominiums, condominium hotels, and master planned mixed-use projects. Bruce also represents clients in entity sale transactions and structured finance transactions (including securitizations, loan facilities and loan sale transactions).

Ivane Sargent is in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Class Action and Mass Litigation Practice Group. Ivane primarily represents insurance providers in personal injury protection litigation matters, specializing in the interpretation and application of automobile insurance policies.

Devon A. Woolard is in the West Palm Beach office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Business Litigation Practice Group. Devon’s practice focuses on the representation of a variety of businesses and professionals in state and federal courts, with a focus on commercial matters. Devon is experienced with representing various individuals, private and public companies, and non-profit entities in a broad range of business matters, and previously served as assistant general counsel for a property and casualty insurance company.
